As promised…here is the completed and finished guitar that my friend, Jon, built.

This is a jumbo sized guitar whose back, sides and neck are white oak, and has an englemann spruce top, ebony fretboard and walnut bridge, with a hand applied shellac finish.

Jon came over to the shop for about 4 hours each weekend over several months so that I could demonstrate the next step he would be performing in the construction of his guitar. Each week he also completed some of the work in his own shop at home.

The headstock and bridge are his own design and he actually resawed the white oak into back and sides from quarter sawn wood he obtained from a local lumber supply.

As a guitar it is beautiful and has a very mellifluous sound. The fact that it is the first guitar he’s made makes it even that much more amazing.
